Fashion has always been something I’ve been passionate about, not because of the seemingly sheer materialism of it all, but because fashion has always made me feel something.
It has been a huge part of my life, constantly evolving alongside myself. Next to writing, it has single-handedly allowed me to channel creative energy, and figure out who I am, and who I want to be.
Rather than seeing fashion as a means of dressing oneself, I see it as a creative, freeing form of self-expression. Often times, I wear what I am feeling, and as I have grown and experimented within the various realms of fashion, it has all been a deep, meaningful reflection of myself.
I prefer to be limitless and without boundaries when it comes to fashion. I want to be able to wear an oversized, lavish faux fur coat with combat boots one day, and then some dark wash denim with a velvet blazer the next. I want to own the ability to pull anything off, and have the expectations for how I dress to be rather unexpected.
Something I love about and have embraced in fashion is that as we change, our sense of style does too. It gives us the chance to reflect who we feel we are to the rest of the world, and we can change that or add on to it as often as we’d like. Fashion gives us a window of opportunity to be artistic, and use ourselves as a canvas, and that is a powerful, wonderful thing.
I don’t know what sense of style I will adopt in the future, but to be truthful, I’m not worried about it. I plan on going through the motions of life, chasing after what I want, and however I grow and choose to express that through what I wear will be beautiful, and eccentric, and a reflection of me, and who I am. Fashion will forever be a creative outlet and means of self-expression for me, and as someone who believes that evolving and growing throughout life is something that should be constant and never cease, style evolution is no exception.
