Coming from the sunshine state, my first real winter here in the city was quite the experience. I’m still on the fence as to how I feel about the cold weather, admitting that I’m definitely not the biggest fan most of the time, but I do love winter fashion. There’s something so glamorous and fun about seeing people in faux fur and sherpa coats, tights and scarves, booties and over-the-knee boots. Don’t get me wrong, it can be challenging at times to maintain warmth and avoid the harsh wind and still look fierce, which was something I experienced at the beginning of the season when I had no winter clothing. But, between a good coat, a solid pair of boots, and a few layers, I’ve found that it is possible to master both. It has been colder this weekend than it has all winter, so I plan on bundling up in this statement faux fur coat until spring arrives. I
borrowed stole this from my cousin’s closet back in the fall, and it is hands-down my favorite piece for the colder months, and when paired with my favorite oversized sunnies, is the right amount of extra. Not only does it give me a major confidence boost, as all good outfits do, but it does keep me super warm and cozy, which I guess is sort of important.
Still, as much as I love this coat and the feeling it gives me, I do admit that I’m rather excited to retire it for the next few months, and break out the sandals and denim cutoffs.
